Project Life Week 3

It's been a looooong week. As you will see in my pages I had a treatment and recovery takes some time. Then I caught the sickies from my boys. It's been fun :)

I am posting week 3's pages late even though I had them all done. I took 56 photos this week! I always take a lot... except for the week coming up... I may fall short. Somehow I managed to goof up the dates on some of my pages but I have corrected them. I also realized I am doing 2 pages for each week instead of 1! I jumped into this project hard and fast without really doing any 'research'. What I do love about this project is that anything goes. Perhaps next week I will have 1 page for the week. Now I am wondering how to do week 5 - with January having 3 days and going right into February - (29th, 30th & 31st) I'm doing a cover page for each month so where will this fit in? ;o ... sigh, I am confused yet again! I'll figure it out when I get there.

I've been working and learning my SLR camera. I love it. I especially love taking macro photos. In doing some pricing for lenses I was completely floored and there is NO way I am spending $500+ for 1 lens (not to mention the other one I would like is over $1k). There is a new camera on the market. Jimmy has a background in photography (he really could go pro - just has no interest) and neither do I! Soooo, we are selling the SLR (giving Jake our point and shoot) and have purchased the new Canon SX40 HS. It's coming home tonight :) I am very happy to have made this decision. I'll be able to shoot photos pretty much the same (from what I've seen online, specifically YouTube and other reviews by photographers  - all who seem very impressed). I will not have to purchase any lenses to take macro or zoom -- the specs are powerful and I cannot wait to start shooting with it! Obviously, if I were going to become a pro photographer I would keep my SLR and purchase lenses. I have no desire whatsoever. My only desire is to take great photos for memory keeping (and of the insects and flowers I love to photograph) - and now I will also have a video camera (stereo!) built in. This will be great when Jake starts Tae Kwon Do and softball.

Here it is in all it's glory ::
sweet, eh?

Life Lessons to my son

There are things that I've been telling Jake since he was a baby. They are 'life lessons' - things to remember, things to live by, things to carry with him forever. I took this photo a bit ago and have been waiting to use it. I saw a page done by Cindylo (@The Digi Chick with a kit by Etc. by Danyale) and fell in love with it. It's the closest I've come to scraplifting almost exactly.. save the kids and some of the words.

Your heart will always make itself known through your words. I love you, Mommy

If you are having a hard time reading the journaling here it is ::
"These are the things we always talk about,
Remember them. Hold them close and carry
them with you forever. Remember to always be
kind. Treat people the way you would like to be
treated. Listen with an open heart and mind.
Breathe. Believe in yourself. Love yourself. What
you put out to the world will come back to you.
It’s the energy and karma that goes around. You
will always need your Mother. Just be yourself.
You can be anything you want to be. Be patient.
Be careful. Trust your instincts and always have an
opinion. Read a lot. Be passionate. You always
have the power to be happy. Make friends and
keep them close. Pray. Eat healthy food. Exercise
and play. Never lose your sense of wonder. Dance
when you feel sad and smile at yourself in the
mirror. Never be afraid to tell your Mother or
Father anything. Forever, for always, and no
matter what - you are so loved."

Project Life Week 2

I am thoroughly enjoying this project! I prepare the pages during the week and add photos as I take them. I have another project and that is to really learn how to use my DSLR. It's so much easier to walk around with a point and shoot (and throw it in my purse!) but the photos are really not the same. I'll get there. One of Jimmy's majors was photography and let me tell you - WOW - can he take a good photo! Since I am the 'official' memory keeper I take the day-to-day pictures. Anyhow, it's fun and I am thrilled I challenged myself to do this. I know it's 'only' week 2 but, I shall succeed and have a big ass book at the end of the year. weeeee!

Project Life Week 1

I do realize that it is the second week of Project Life (or whatever you may choose to call it) so saying I am completing my goals may be a bit too much. I am keeping up and I love how the system works! It's fun and easy and I cannot wait to have a full book to look back on the year. It's so nice to scrap some of the thousands of photographs I take every year... especially every day life.

I successfully changed the header image here for my blog. Yay, me :)

Here are the Cover Page, The January Cover Page and week 1 in photos (and journaling) that I've completed.
